Root to Bloom July Program
Does your child enjoy playing outdoors and learning from the land? This is a month-long, weekly earth-based program led by The Root Nymph and hosted by Maribett Farm in Kingston. Julia (of The Root Nymph) is an Eco-educator who is passionate about creating opportunities & holding space for children to tend to their relationship with land in a way that does not instill a hierarchical human/nature separation, but that rather fosters reciprocity, interconnectedness, and a felt sense of belonging with the earth. She believes that the earth is the greatest teacher & that fostering children’s innate relationship with land is fundamental for their wellbeing. Maribett Farm is a small family subsistence permaculture farm in Kingston.
This month-long program combines earth-based expressive arts + crafts with gardening and environmental education to foster children's relationship and sense of belonging with land. Children will learn about the interconnected and cyclical nature of the ecosystems that they are apart of, while also using art as a way to be in relationship with and celebrate the “natural” world. This will be a fun, hands-on, low pressure experience aiming to foster their innate appreciation for and sense of belonging to our earth while also learning the basic skill of growing plants from seed. While the children will learn a lot, it will be mostly through play & creativity - and they will definitely not feel like they are in a classroom.
