Learning with the Land - Homeschool Enrichment

$160.00

This Land-based Pilot Program is a 6 week-long program for homeschooled children that weaves together land-based observational learning and movement, nature-based crafting, and reading (or listening) + discussion of Colonization and the Wampanoag Story by Linda Coombs.

The program incorporates outdoor activities from Forest School Pedagogy with nature-based crafting, community-building, and critical thinking skills around the truthful history and ongoing reality of colonization on these lands.

The goals for this program are to:

  1. Nurture the children’s appreciation for the natural world

  2. Foster place-based learning and critical thinking about the history of the land that they are apart of.

  3. Foster the children’s sense of belonging to and gratitude for the Earth rather than instilling colonial beliefs of human supremacy and paradigms of separation.

Location: Customized based on the location of the families. Varies weekly between public conservation lands and the library within that town.

Cost: $160 per child. Every additional child from the same family is discounted at $120.

When: Mid-September to November - 6 weeks with weekly 1.5 hour sessions.
